Side Strike Tutorial
Japanese Term:
Yoko Uchi (YOE-KOH-OO-CHEE)
Instructions:
The transition starts by closing both hands, forming fists. The hand that is on your chest pulls back to form a hiki-te (fist beside chest). Turn your feet to the opposite forty-five and bring the hiki-te fist around in a circular motion to the front. It should turn palm down at the last moment. The other hand slides back to form a hiki-te. The elbow of the punching arm is one fist away from your side. The forearm is pointing to the forty-five and is lightly angled upward, fist higher than the elbow. The punching fist lines up beneath the chin. Do not punch past the center.
