Straddle Leg Stance Tutorial

Japanese Term:

Kibadachi (KEE-BAH-DAH-CHEE)

Instructions:

Extend your left and right foot out one-half a shoulder width each. The stance should be two-shoulder widths wide, feet pointing forward. The arms quickly extend out directly in front of the chest, solar plexus level, one fist apart with the palms facing down. Draw the arms back with a "kiaii" or yell. The arms retract, forming a double hiki-te, with hands facing up and drawn back against the chest, solar plexus level. Then extend the left arm out in front of the solar plexus, while the right arm remains tight against your side in a hiki-te. Your left hand should be palm down. You are now ready to begin the first technique, straight punch.
